Wright City competition Saturday September 14th

Here is a link to the Midwest Marching information about the Wright City competition: http://midwestmarching.com/2013/wildcatpride2013.htm. They typically post more information during the week such as schedule of bands, etc. Admission is $5 for adults. Your band student should have brought home a copy of the itinerary yesterday. Students should report to McCluer North no later than 7:45 to help load up as well as get their uniforms on. The busses leave North no later than 8:45. They will exit the busses & march in the parade with just a few minutes to spare @ 9:52. Make sure they have eaten a good breakfast as they will not eat again until around noon. The note sent home mentions a change of clothes appropriate to the predicted weather for Saturday. There will be several hours of down time between the parade & the field show for them to relax & have a lunch provided by the band boosters. After lunch the kids will again suit up to warm up for the field show @ 2:50. Please come & support your band student. We can use any spare hands to help with serving lunch & assisting the band with moving equipment. Once awards are over the students will be bussed back to school where they will be expected to help put away all uniforms & equipment. As any other information becomes available we will post here as well as send an email.

Saturday Car Wash!

Band Boosters, Don’t forget the band car wash on Saturday, from 10 AM - 2 PM at Advance Auto Parts on the corner of Lindbergh and Trotter Way, across from Dairy Queen and Handyman Hardware! Your student will receive a reminder about it in class. They should wear a previous show tee shirt or a McCluer North tee shirt if they have one, also a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. The school dress code applies to this carwash! Students working the whole day will get a lunch break, and should bring money to buy lunch nearby: Subway, DQ, or #1 China. Many thanks to the parents who sign up to work. When you arrive, please plan to park in the Surrey Plaza II lot out closer to the street, so that we won’t take up spaces for Advance Auto Parts customers. If you can work early then Torin Campbell would like us to show up around 9:15 to get organized. She is chairing this event and we will look to her for guidance. We have buckets, hoses, nozzles, a few sponges, several large bags of cloth towels, soap, paper towels and signs. Extra drying towels are always appreciated, so if you have some old ones at home that you would like to donate, we would appreciate it! If you haven’t signed up to work, but can give an hour or two, please come! We need adult supervision for every aspect of the operation! Student safety will be paramount! Students need to sign in and sign out. They will not be allowed to wander around in stores. Only those who need to buy lunch will be dismissed for that purpose, and students will not be allowed to cross Lindbergh to get lunch. Non-band friends can come to work, but should not come to distract or harass the band members. We will have iced water available so that the students stay hydrated. Advance Auto Parts has been most gracious to us in allowing us space and water for the wash. If you are able, please tell them thank you and support them by purchasing your auto parts there. Many thanks, McCluer North Band Boosters

Welcome!

Last night was the spring 2013 band concert at Cross Keys Middle School, and all I can say is WOW! Each year is better and better! We are so very excited to have so many new students joining our band next year, and the talent, well I have no words right now! I know the high school students who attended the concert were also very impressed and excited to have such talent join them next year! For those of you who are new to our organization, please take a few minutes to search through our blog! We have a link to last seasons marching show as well as some of the winter concert performances so you can see some of the types of things your student will be doing throughout their high school band years. Again WELCOME! We are so very excited to you as a part of this family!
