YOU COULD EARN MONEY FOR THE BAND BY LOOKING IN YOUR DRAWERS!
(...and your closets, basements, attics and garages.)

We have less than a week left! Hopefully everyone knows by now that we are holding a rummage sale on Saturday, September 6th in the McCluer North Cafeteria. Now is the time to clear out all of those unwanted items in your home. We have the potential to raise a lot of money for the band, but we need EVERY BAND STUDENT to donate! We will take anything except large furniture items and televisions, unless they are flat screens. There is no limit on the amount you can donate…the more, the better. No need to price the items. We will donate any left overs to charity, so let us know if you would like something back in the event it doesn’t sell. Drop off will be the night before from 5:00 till 8:00. The sale is on a football day, so hopefully we will get some traffic from that as well. Doors open at 7:00 a.m. and will go until the start of the 2nd half of the football game. We will be advertising, so we need LOTS OF STUFF to sell! Ask family, friends, co-workers and people in your churches for donations. Facebook is a great way to spread the word, too. We will need some parents to volunteer the night before and the day of the sale. We understand that many parents are working at the game, but if some of you could come early and help with the sale in the morning, we have other people lined up to take over later. We will also be selling Old Town donuts, Starbucks coffee, cookies and bottled water until game time.

If you are able to volunteer, have any questions, or have any problems with the drop off time you may email the Band Boosters or call/text Kelly VanPelt at 314-239-7894.

General Home Football Game information

What Band Parents Should Know About Home Football Games:

Our first home football game will be this Saturday! We are all looking forward to seeing the halftime show that our students have been working on so very hard!
Home games are considered performances, and all students in marching band are required to attend unless previously excused by Mr. Schroyer. Otherwise, if a student is ill, the parent must call Mr. S at 506-9278 before the time that the students are to arrive.
Your student should arrive at school dressed in the band tee shirt, athletic shorts (no denim or cargo shorts). They should have black socks to wear. Long hair should be pulled back in a ponytail or bun, but high ponytails or hair piled high on the head will cause the hat to sit wrong.
We will advise a time to report in future emails. All band members will need to get their uniforms on, get their instruments ready, tune, and be ready to warm up at the direction of Mr. S. The first marching event is always a bit chaotic, with uniforms needing last minute repairs, students needing help finding the correct hat, figuring out where their gloves or armbands are.
“The Pit” refers to the Front Ensemble, or non-marching percussion. Their very large instruments, and the drum majors’ podiums, need to be taken down to the field before the game begins. Parental assistance is needed for this.
“Troop” is the band’s entry into the stadium, and supervising parents will need to troop with the band. The band will play the pregame, including the National Anthem and the school song, and then exit the field to their bleachers. During the game, they will play spirit songs and cadences, and cheer! Cell phones/texting are strictly prohibited, and Mr. S. has instructed supervising band parents to confiscate all phones ringing or seen during the game.
Parents are needed to help the Pit on and off the field, and to set up/take down the drum majors’ podiums. After the half time show, the students are allowed a short break, and then will return to their bleachers to continue playing until the end of the game. The pit instruments are returned to the band room after the half time show, which means pushing them uphill!
Parents are needed to assist students with uniforms before and after the game. (Afterwards, students usually need help getting their pants on the hanger correctly. If they do not, we all notice it the next time the student wears the pants!) We also ice coolers of water and take them down to the band’s bleachers to keep the band hydrated.
The band boosters have a tent at the game, at which we sell Spirit sticks, seat cushion, and other items. We also do a 50-50 raffle during each football game.
Please consider volunteering to assist at one or more of our home games! It’s a great way to support your student! Please don’t worry about not being sure what to do. We all just pitch in and do whatever is needed. The parents who came before us never left manual to tell us what to do, we have a good time doing whatever it takes….it’s a lot like parenting! Just come when your student comes, we’ll definitely find a job for you!

Car Wash Cancelled!

Band Boosters,
The car wash scheduled for this coming Saturday, August 23rd @ Advance Auto Parts is being cancelled. There are several factors but most important are the fact that we have not had classes yet so we were not able to get sign up sheets out (so we know if we would have enought help) nor are we able to get our supplies (drying towels, rags, brushes, buckets & signs) out of the school's basement storage room. These things coupled with the excessive heat alert and the events in our community led us to this decision.

If you had posted the flyer @ your church or business please drop by & mark the event as cancelled. If your student knows any other student who does not receive emails please ask them to pass along this information. We will have someone @ Advance Auto early Saturday to let any students who show up know we cancelled. Thank you to those who gave their opinions on this as well as to those who had offered to help. We'll try again in the spring!

2014 Marching Season schedule

Marching Band Schedule 2014-2015 school year

Tuesday rehearsals will start in June, they will be from 5-7 PM in the band room. If you are unable to attend these rehearsals please contact Mr. Schroyer at 314-506-9278. These summer rehearsals are important to help the students learn and memorize the music before band camp. This is a must for a successful season.

Band Camp is a requirement of marching band & is a 2 week affair. In the event that the student meets the criteria of needing marching band and does not attend the camp then they will lose their spot on the field and will have their grade dropped by 2 letter grades for the season.

There is such a thing as an excused absence. For it to be excused Mr. Schroyer must speak with a parent before the absence. Contact him at 314-506-9278.

TJ's to earn new Pants!!!!!

It’s that time of year again! This is our last big fundraiser of the year and we are hoping for a great return. Two years ago at this time, we did a TJ’s fundraiser bringing in a profit of around $3500. This was amazing and this is how our kids were able to earn their warm weather uniforms. This year, the goal is to earn at minimum the same but shoot for over $4000. If we can accomplish this, the kids WILL get new formal uniform pants for the 2014 marching season!  They will be black in color, with a better fit so less chance of slippage off the shoulders, and have snaps inside the pant legs so no hemming is needed.
ALL band students are encouraged to participate in this fundraiser as we need all the orders we can get to make this successful. We as boosters are so excited to be able to do this for our kids but we need your help! Any order form not having a name and contact # on it will not be accepted and orders will not be placed for that student.  There have been too  many issues in the past where boosters have stayed late because students have not picked up orders on delivery date so please make sure that students name and contact information is listed on ALL areas requested.  As always, thank you for your participation and all you do to make things great for our kids!

Please remember that any checks should be written out to you and in turn, you write one check to:
