Wow! We've had an exciting few weeks! The marching band was featured on Fox 2 news and recognized for our awards won during marching season 2012!

Dear Marching Band Parents,

Our first competition is this Saturday, September 15th and we will be doing a football game first! This is a significant challenge for all of us, and our students will need as many of us as possible to assist at every stage of the day. Below please find the list of things that need to be done, by time of day. Please volunteer to assist by responding to this email, and please be specific as to what you would like to do, and what time frame you will be available to help.

Before the Game: beginning at 10:30:
Fill water jugs for stands, put out cups
Fill/ice coolers for soda/water for lunch and trip
tape off band bleachers
Fit freshman hats
Supervise students cleaning their hats
Uniform sewing repairs
Move pit instruments, podium to field
Set up 50/50 table
Collect airgrams and money

During the game: (game starts at 1pm)
Supervise students in bleachers, including confiscating cell phones
Make sure students do not leave without permission
Sell 50/50 tickets
Crew the pit on and off the field at halftime
Move pit instruments, podium onto the truck after halftime
Pick up pizzas at Little Caesar's
Set up lunch for students

After halftime:
Serve lunch
Clean up: students will be on the bus afterward (some parents not going to competition will need to stay to finish clean up.)
Load truck for competition
See students off (around 4:30PM possibly sooner)

At the competition:
help unload truck
help students with equipment, hats and plumes
crew band to warm  up area\field
cheer for students
help reload equipment and instruments onto truck

After the competition:(will return to school around 12:30 to 1am)
Assist with unloading
Assist with stowing equipment
(If you are in your car waiting for your student, please consider assisting....students are not dismissed until all the equipment is put away. We can all go home sooner if we all help.)

It will be chilly at the competition! Make sure your student has warm clothes to wear after they compete. Students should either bring a sack lunch to eat after they compete, or bring money for a meal/snacks.

Let us know if you have questions!

Meeting on 8-21

Thanks to all who came to our monthly meeting on Tuesday. We got many things accomplished and are ready to enter football/competition season! In the next week or so, we will be ready to issue uniforms to the students, so if you can help at any time, let us know! For the freshman and their parents, a uniform is issued to each student at the beginning of the season, however, students are not allowed to take them home. They will stay at school and only be removed from school property during competitions. Make sure that for all home games and competitions your student wears their show shirt and shorts which will be worn under the uniform. If your band dues order form has not been turned in, please do so immediately. We need to get the shirts ordered so they are back in time.

We have also decided to extend the TJ's fundraiser. Orders will now be due no later than Monday September 24th. There may have been a miscommunication earlier stating that orders were due on August 24th and this was incorrect. We'd like to give our students at least one month to collect orders.

Mr. Schroyer told us this was one of the best band camps yet! The entire show was learned within the two weeks so now it's just being perfected! Way to go Stars! There is still  a possibility that one more song may be added with the next few weeks, but this is not definite. Come to next months meeting to find out more information on what's going on with the band.

On a positive note, which we are very excited about, The band will be sitting with the rest of the fans during our home games this year!!!!! We are so excited about this! And as an extra bonus, we will be performing the music that the pommies with dance to during half time as well. Songs include, Fireworks, All I do Is Win, Give Me Everything, and Moves like Jagar!  This is a great bonus for our band and allows us to show a little more of what we can do!

It's that time again!

Please check with your student as we started another TJ's fundraiser yesterday! Our last one was a big success and we hope to have the same outcome  for this one. Almost everyone eats pizza so why not order TJ's and help the band earn some money as well. We have not had a lot of success with the smaller fundraising done the past couple of months so it was decided to focus on a couple of big projects. The patron project being one, which if you didn't hear already, we earned $3313! Top fundraisers will be announced with the distribution of our show shirts at a later day.  Our top 5 fundraisers for this project will have their choice of seats on the bus for all competitions.
We will have one month to complete the collection of orders which will be turned in no later than September 10. After that it will take about 2 weeks for orders to be processed. If we have late orders, this will only delay in our delivery so please be prompt with turn ins.
The next big Fundraiser we would like to do is a "music wear". We are hoping to sell t-shirts, with a McCluer north music theme. Every sport has them, why shouldn't we? We are still looking for a parent to Chair this fundraiser so if you are interested please let us know ASAP! We would like to do this in October to have everything back in time for the holidays.
And as always, thank you for all of the support that you show to our band!

JULY MEETING

Just a friendly reminder that this months Meeting will be held this Tuesday July 10 at 7pm. Since the Northwinds band uses the band room directly following our summer rehearsals, we will meet in the concourse area outside the cafeteria
This month we will be discussing things such as the results of our last few fundraisers, and the participation we have had involved in them, as well as our upcoming band camp. We are hoping since the date has changed from a Thursday to Tuesday and since it's right after rehearsal, we will see lots of new faces! Please bring any thoughts or ideas you may have as well.

McCluer North Stars 2012 Marching Band
Yes! I would like to become a patron of the McCluer North Stars Marching Band!

Cash donations are preferred, and are tax deductible. We will accept checks from businesses. Donation levels are as follows, please check desired level:
$20 or more (name will appear on show shirt)______________
$50 or more (name on show shirt and in all concert programs )___________
$100 or more (name on show shirt, in programs, on parade signs)_________

It is the Band Boosters’ wish to provide our students with food, equipment, and supplies that will add to the enjoyment of your competition season, and there are significant expenses to meet. To this end, we are asking for participation in a fundraiser for the band.  Parents, relatives, neighbors, teachers, principals, school staff, friends  and businesses can become a McCluer North Marching Band Patron.

An individual or a family can become a patron for a cash donation of $20 or more. Each patron’s name will be printed on the back of the Marching Band Show shirt, to be seen at each competition and home football game.
If you are a friend or relative from of town, you are invited  to become a patron via text or email. If you know a student, please contact them to find out how to arrange payment  or simply email the booster organization at mccluernorthbb@gmail.com

For a $50 donation, a patron can not only have the name on the shirt, they can have their business card placed in all the concert programs this year. This is a good option for businesses.

For a donation of $100 dollars, a patron can have their name on the shirt, their business card in the programs, and their names on a sign on the Boostermobile in all parades in which the band marches.

Please provide your name exactly as you would like it to appear on the shirt.

Here is what our show shirts have looked like the past 2 years
